The inaugural four-day event – which takes place between Thursday 21st and Sunday 24th August in the grounds of Scone Palace and Perth Racecourse – boasts a packed showing schedule.
One of Scone’s main draws is Thursday’s native breed show, which includes two HOYS qualifiers; the British Ridden Heavy Horse of the Year and Ridden Highland Pony of the Year finals. For Clydesdale and Highland owners without ambitions of riding at the NEC this year, there are novice and open ridden titles to vie for.
Also taking place on Thursday is the hunter show, which offers classes for lightweight, small, and middleweight/heavyweight hunters. Novice show horses will also have the opportunity to shine, both on the flat and over fences.
The finals of the Perth Equine Vets/BHS Scotland Working Hunter Final and the Dodson & Horrell/BHS Scotland Riding Club Working Hunter Final will welcome qualified combinations before the winners compete for the inaugural Scone Palace working hunter championship.
Ex-racers can book early passes to the 2026 Retraining of Racehorses Tattersalls finals, held at the Hickstead Derby Meeting next June.
There is an open class for cobs and coloured horse and pony ridden classes affiliated to leading society, the Coloured Horse and Pony Society (CHAPS) UK.
Scone Palace Showing – Friday
The prestigious National Pony Society (NPS) Scotland Finals will take place on Friday. Qualifiers are held at select shows throughout the season. The NPS Scotland Finals were hotly contested when held at their former home, Blair Horse Trials, and strong entries in qualifiers this season suggest the championships at Scone will be equally competitive.
The NPS schedule includes an M&M novice ridden championship, Silver Medal finals for ridden and in-hand ponies, and M&M junior ridden and mini finals. The M&M working hunter pony championship courses will be designed and built by in-demand builder Carrie Scobbie.
The supreme of show will be judged by leading racehorse trainer Lucinda Russell.
Members of both England and Scotland’s showing elite will be heading to Scone with the aim of becoming the first riders to land the top titles. Among those competing will be leading Scottish showman Richard Telford and Emma Burrow, who produces a range of top natives and plaiteds from her base in Carlisle.
Entries for the showing classes close on 4th August 2025, and stable bookings are currently open.
