Marks will be awarded in the following way:

Show, freedom of action  50 maximum
Breed type and conformation  50 maximum

In the case of equality, the pony with the highest show, freedom of movement mark will be deemed the winner.  If there is still equality at this point, then the judges’ decision will be final.

This class is a qualifying class for Horse of the Year Show, NEC, Birmingham, 7th – 11th October 2026.  Qualification will not pass below 3rd place.  

Qualification will be verified by the Horse of the Year Show office.

To be judged 60% for jumping (40% for jumping and 20% for style) and 40% for ride and conformation. After the start of the competition the rider may not be changed under any circumstances. Exhibitors will be allowed to enter up to two horses but following the jumping phase it will be up to the exhibitor to select one horse to be taken forward to the ridden and conformation section if required.

Amateur definition: An amateur may not show a horse owned or sponsored by a company or commercial firm. In addition, a person classed as an amateur must not be supported by a company in any way or act as brand ambassador whether financially or in-kind. An amateur is a person who for the purpose of RoR classes does not/has not during the current season or previous season: Engage (d) in breeding, livery, buying or selling, dealing or hiring horses in a commercial capacity. Horses must not have been stabled at or reside in a Professional Producer's/Trainer's yard from January 1st, 2025. Riders must not have ridden any animals produced by a Professional/Trainer in the current or previous season. Horses and riders must not receive any help from a Professional Producer/Trainer at a SHOW in the current season. A rider who has ridden for a Professional/Producer Trainer in the current or previous season must not have ridden horses at a show.
