Scone Palace International Horse Trials is proud to host international FEI eventing classes at the following levels:
CCI4*-L and CCI4*-S are the second- and third-highest levels in eventing, and serve as essential qualifiers for the very pinnacle of the sport, CCI5*.
CCI4*-L competitions have a longer cross-country course than CCI4*-S, and in CCI4*-L the showjumping part is the final phase and happens on the last day - in Scone Palace’s case, on Sunday 24 August.
The showjumping for the CCI4*-S takes place on Saturday 23rd August, with the cross-country run as the final phase on Sunday 24th August. Eventing is a three-phase sport with its roots in military history. The modern three-day event consists of a dressage test to demonstrate harmony between horse and rider, balance, suppleness, training and willingness. This takes place on the first day.
The exciting cross-country phase takes place on the second day, and horse and rider combinations jump at speed over substantial fixed obstacles in the spectacular setting of Scone Palace’s park and grounds alongside the River Tay. This is a test of fitness, bravery (of horse and rider), accuracy, speed and training and is thrilling to watch.
Entries for these classes will open on Monday 14th July via British Eventing.
All levels will complete the dressage phase
CCI short classes show jump
CCI long classes cross country
CCI short classes cross country
CCI long classes showjumping
On the third and final day - after a veterinary inspection to ensure horses are still in peak physical condition - competitors must tackle a round of showjumps in the main arena. This requires athleticism, accuracy, skill and obedience. Scone Palace International Horse Trials offers a range of classes for horses and riders progressing through the sport, from Ponies (CCIP2*-S) through to CCI4*.
