Golden Entries for 2026

All three members of Britain’s Olympic gold medal-winning eventing team at the Paris Olympics - Laura Collett, Tom McEwen and Ros Canter - are among the excellent entries for Scone Palace International Horse Trials (27-30 August). And as those three athletes form the core of Britain’s team for next week’s World Championships in Aachen, Germany, alongside fellow Scone Palace entrant Gemma Stevens, it is quite possible that they will arrive at Scotland’s premier equestrian extravaganza as newly minted world champions, too.

A total of 13 Olympians from a variety of nations have entered Scone Palace’s international eventing classes, among New Zealand’s world number one Tim Price. Tokyo Olympics gold medallist Oliver Townend is making his debut at the Perthshire event, and other major eventing stars coming to Scone Palace include Scotland’s leading event rider Wills Oakden, Irish champions Austin O’Connor, Sarah Ennis and Aoife Clark, Co Durham’s Katie Magee - long-listed for the British team for the first time this year - and top Brits Emily King, Izzy Taylor and Willa Newton.

The first running of Scone Palace International Horse Trials in 2025 was an outstanding success, and four of last year’s winners - Laura Collett, Emma Carmichael, Wills Oakden and Ros Canter - are returning this time. 

Event Director Alec Lochore said: “I’m delighted so many of the world’s very best horses and riders are entered for Scone Palace, and all the classes, from CCI4* level to the Subaru Scottish Grassroots Championships, look to be highly competitive. This part of Scotland has been much more fortunate than the south of Britain in the rainfall it has received this summer, and I know that horses and riders will relish the excellent ground conditions we can offer them. We look forward to welcoming sports fans from around the country to watch the world-class action up close over the weekend, with great food and shopping available as well.

“There is so much for visitors to enjoy at Scone Palace - alongside the international eventing action, we have a multitude of showing classes, including Highland Ponies and Clydesdales, and Retraining of Racehorses classes. Saturday’s £1,000-to-the-winner Scone Palace Grand Prix, sponsored by The Malcolm Group, will be really exciting to watch, and there is also arena eventing, riding club competitions and Pony Club Games.
