Family Friendly Activity Zone

This year, we've teamed up with Horse Scotland to deliver an amazing family-friendly, kids-focused event-within-the-event

Looking for things to do with the kids? The Activity Zone is a must-visit for families at Scone Palace International Horse Trials, offering plenty of fun and the chance to let them burn off some energy.

Welcome, Horse Scotland Village.

The Horse Scotland Village has been created to welcome children of all ages, and from all walks of life, into the world of equine sport. Whether pony-mad experts or complete beginners, we know they’re going to find something they love.

Start, if you dare, with their Horse Simulator, Finnie, who is certain to be one of the highlights and the closest you'll get to riding a real horse without the mud. Our advice is to hold on tight! Once you've dismounted, there's plenty more nearby.

Remember: 

  • Children under 12 attend the event for free.
  • Children 12 – 16 from only £12.

What to expect at the Horse Scotland Village

  • Finnie, the Horse Simulator: dressed in a traffic-cone-unicorn costume this summer to celebrate the Commonwealth Games in Scotland
  • Pony Club Chat: find out how to join a Pony Club near you, or pop by to tell them about your own
  • Therapy ponies: on hand throughout the event offering calm, comforting company to visitors of all ages — a firm favourite across UK equestrian events
  • Dog show: Three classes judged by Viscount Stormont, Saturday and Sunday at 2:30pm — arrive early for a good ringside spot
  • Active time out: archery and indoor curling on offer, supported by Horse Scotland's backing of Active Scotland
  • Guest speakers: Lucinda Russell and Peter Scudamore appearing on Saturday with more details to follow
