Among Scotland’s three native pony breeds, the Highland Pony stands out as a symbol of the country’s rural heritage. Known for their strength, endurance, and kind nature, these ponies were once essential working animals – used for hill stalking, forestry tasks, and farm duties.

The Whitefield Perpetual Trophy, kindly presented by the Baird Family will be awarded to the In-Hand Highland Pony Champion.  A Highland Pony Society Silver Medal will be awarded to the Champion In-Hand Highland Pony 

Clydesdales are a breed of draft horse known for their large size, strength, and distinctive appearance. Clydesdale showing acts as a showcase for the remarkable versatility, strength, and elegance of the breed across a wide spectrum of disciplines. At the heart of these events lies a strong focus on conformation, where horses are judged on how closely they adhere to breed standards – highlighting traits such as bone structure, feathering, movement, and overall presence.

 A Highland Pony Society Silver Medal will be awarded to the Champion Ridden Highland Pony.

Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) showing classes are designed to demonstrate the versatility, adaptability, and potential of former racehorses after their careers on the track. Organised under the RoR charity in the UK, these classes provide a platform for thoroughbreds to demonstrate their progress and retraining in a variety of equestrian disciplines, particularly in the show ring.eran Final on the same day.

CHAPS (UK), or the Coloured Horse and Pony Society (UK), promotes the showing, breeding, and recognition of coloured horses and ponies across the UK. CHAPS (UK) showing classes are dedicated to showcasing the quality, versatility, and beauty of coloured horses and ponies, which display a range of coat patterns including piebald (black and white), skewbald (any other colour 
and white), and odd-coloured types.

Cob showing classes are a popular feature of the show ring, celebrating the strength, versatility, and traditional charm of the cob. Cobs are typically characterised by their short, strong build, good bone, and kind temperament, making them ideal for both riding and driving. These classes are judged on conformation, movement, manners, and overall presentation, highlighting the cob’s suitability as an all-round riding horse.
